Ireon is a nice village with small hotels, bed and breakfast places, bars, taverns and some shops. Two of the beaches are directly in the village. Another small bathing bay is Papa's beach, about 900m away. The distance from Ireon to Pythagorion is about 6km, to Samos town 21km. There is a regular bus transfer. Pythagorion is a busy little town with beautiful old houses and narrow streets. The scenic sea port is built on foundations of the antique main town of Samos.

Roundabout 1km away from Ireon there is the Temple of Hera, one of the most popular antique monuments on Samos Island. It's also one of the most important, eventually the most important of all the holy places of Hera in whole Greece.
